Inspired by sucky, (part 2 of 10 ways to suck in sales)

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:20 pm

“Dream no small dreams, for dreams have the power to move the hearts of men”

Another rant about opening our new bakery – check out the beautiful sign by Wolfecraft – my design from a napkin put into life by a great sign company!

Ever meet someone who should probably
quit their job or definitely be fired?

It wouldn’t be a bad thing. It’s a
good thing, because so many people go to work and hate what they do all day and
it shows.

Last week I was blogging about the
top 10 ways to suck as a salesman (get your head out of the gutter)
.

I
wrote this from a customer perspective.

While setting up our Bakery – we had
these crappy salespeople more often that not. If you are now pissed off
because you just identified yourself  - I make no apologies.  Maybe I just helped you.  Perhaps you need to thank me for pointing out why you are having trouble ‘closing’ and take some notes or quit and find something that you love to do instead!

The whole process made me realize there
is plenty of opportunity! It could be just the Saskatchewan thing, but then again we did travel to Alberta.  The best part of the whole process was Teretech who was very good at what he does – its’ just unfortunate we couldn’t find that service level here at home.  Either way, there is still opportunity and I think even Mark from Teretech would agree!

-Bakery equipment and supplies

-Sign and graphics companies

-Packaging vendors

-Bakery sundries vendors

-Telephone and Internet providers

-Point of Sale system salesmen

The good points along the way….our
flooring guy Steve at Beehive Flooring was excellent, I finally found a great
sign company Wolfecraft (Sheldon)that listened and gave us options with different
budgets.  But it was sure frustrating trying to find the right people!

Our contractor Roger from Beuna Vista
was a guy I knew for many years and we had a great experience – on budget and
on time (sorry to my friends who may not have had that same experience with
him, but I don’t really know all the details!)

Sasktel really sucked – and I really
don’t like the big company syndrome they are suffering. Like phoning and
getting a message that just tells you to call back because they are too busy to
talk to you.  They finally came through
thanks to Lena – but they will likely be dumped unless I see better service
soon.

(update – I dumped them. I called a
competitor who immediately got us a great new number 974-RACK, and booked our
install for the NEXT DAY instead of a month down the road long after I needed
to open! Not only that, they had a rep come by the same afternoon and a
technician! Very impressed, and cheaper!)

A few more good things I took out of
the experience, and why I write it all down.
It helps educate me on my own chosen profession.  It inspires me to be better,  and I can identify with myself in almost
every one of those bad customer experiences.
It’s just that instead of blaming the customer – I took another look at
myself and realized a few things….

First – I am about
relationships.  If you are a scammer or
want to treat me bad and you are only after a quick ‘bang and run’  - that’s not me.  I’m not that slutty salesman that can be used
and tossed aside like a wet napkin….

Second, I am sincere.  If I don’t think we are on the same page, or
if there is someone who can do a better job I am very willing to help you go
there. I will even hold your hand and help you cross the street and make sure
the other guy is ‘right’ before I leave.

Last, I frigging LOVE what I do.  Which is to help people reach their own
goals, inspire them to go to new places, and educate with the knowledge from my
27 plus years of ups and downs.

At some point in my life I was every
one of those crappy salesmen
….but one conviction I have is continuous improvement. As slow as I am to learn, it seems to be working and I now run a top 5% dental sales territory in my industry.

What will be next? What big fails am
I going to learn from still – the future is exciting!!

Next week – the secrets of a $6 Million dollar man…

Smile!

Selfish is their heart, a song by Warren

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:01 pm

Sometimes when people ask me what I do….I think the real way to define what I am is to say first, my goal in life is to share love and spread my way of thinking. I am a writer, of songs of thoughts – a philosopher if you will. I think about how I can change the world, and maybe inspire others to use their god given talents to do the same. I am inspired by music, by reading and educating and by you my friends…

What do I do? You tell me….

This song was inspired by thoughts of how people always seem to think there is something better that the person they already fell in love with.

I have always felt that its’ a selfish thing to start cheating.  Instead of taking the harder route of falling in love all over and over again with the person who originally made you happy – many people go for the ‘new and exciting thing’.  Only to find in time that they are in the same un happy situatiion.

Love takes work, not greed or selfishness.  You have to be in it for the other person if you are in it for yourself…..

Selfish is their heart

Capo on 3rd, (chords relative to Capo) C then Em followed
by G, D, C, Em for chorus

Stranger in the room
Is what I see
When did we lose touch
With our reality

Baby when we met
We were so in love
What happened to our lives
When did we give up?

Two strangers, fall in love
Go on with thier lives (now baby) and they become…
Bored with reality, that’s thier mistake,
I promise to try more (baby) everyday

Selfish is thier heart,
What’s good for me?
Breaks them apart now,
For eternity

Take on a lover,
Cause it ‘feels right’
Can’t see how much it now baby…
Hurts inside…

Two strangers, fall in love
Go on with thier lives – and they become…
Bored with reality, that’s thier mistake
I promise to try more baby, everyday

Two strangers
Fall in love
(but) work on it everyday – and they become…
MORE in love, YA! Almost everyday!
Till the end of time, my baby
Not selfishly, not selfishly…..

Songs and thoughts by Warren.

Some people tell me my songs are downers! LOL! I never intend them to be that way, but you write what you feel inside, from your own experiences.  I have been hurt deeply at many times in my life by people I thought were friends. I give all of myself to most everyone I meet and its’ so worth it – but once in a while you find a Selfish heart….

10 Ways to SUCK at Sales, and run a terrible business….

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:11 pm

If you have integrity, nothing else matters.  If you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters.

~Alan Simpson

In no particular order, I am starting to
remember all the reasons why some people don’t enjoy being sales people.  And there are still way too many that think
they are actually good at it – just because people get stuck (like we have
recently) and HAVE to deal with these people.

These are the guys that give all the
rest a bad name – now I know why some people HATE and AVOID dealing with
salespeople! I am fast becoming one of them, and this is my profession!

No particular order, because
everything here is just annoying.

#10 – Fake nice.  That annoying and pretend to care attitude
when you know all they want is to sell you something.  You can hear it the moment they cackle out a
fake ass ‘….and how are you todayyyyy….’ ugh.

#9 – Super Salesman.  Without even asking start to
show you what you need.    They may have
enough experience or ice selling skills to at least ask you what kind of frozen
water you usually use on your igloo – but then take you straight to the high
priced bottled ice when out of the tap would have worked just fine.

#8 – Know it all. They know more than you.  They pretend to listen, lots of “uh-huh,
oh ya, yes….”.  Then the ya, buts
start…..tons of ‘in my experience’ crap.
If they sincerely care, and they really listened – they already know
that the bet way to sell someone something is to educate them.  Help them get what they really want by
understanding all the alternatives, and why there is no exact solution for
every customer.

#7 – Slimy Spiff suckers. They care more about the spiff
than in selling the right thing.

#6 – Loudmouths.They interrupt the customer
every time they speak.

#5 – Don’t know what they are doing.  They are stuck and focused only
on price, when the price never really mattered.
Most of the time, this is a sure sign of a ‘newbie’ because they really
don’t know any other way to help a customer – so price becomes the crutch.

#4 – The Always Closing thing.  They are so pushy you can’t wait
to get rid of them, and what really sucks is that some people will buy just to
do that.

#3 – Short Term Thinkers.  They think, and will have you
believe -it’s only business.  Because that
way if everything is messed up and they screw you they can sleep better at
night.

#2 – Hate their job.  You are just annoying to
them.  After all the fake, and all the
work of telling you what you need and they still haven’t closed a sale they are
ready to move on.  They make it obvious
by not returning your phone calls, pretending not to see you and generally have
an attitude change if you even mention the competition.

#1 – Huge Ego.  They are gods gift to human
kind.  They are company first driven
instead of customer first.  They don’t
realize that sometimes they don’t have the answer, and will never ever point
you to another store that would serve you better or be the real answer to your
needs.  Instead they use every skill they
have learned to be a snake oil politician and convince you they have the right
answer.  And when you are dis satisfied,
they blame you for the problem!

Tomorrow – the inspiration for this
rather negative point of view…I hope there is some good that comes from this!

Smile!

Scottsdale, Arizona 2011 summer holidays!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:09 pm

Hello my fellow Arizona-lovers!

We are having an amazing time on our 4th annual summer trek to Scottsdale.  As usual, there are about a million new adventures to be had every time we come down.  So many great places to experience – just thought I would pass along a few highlights that might help you out on your next trip down!

We explored our favourite golf courses – and by far they are The Boulders ($45 in the summer), Troon North Monument $60 summer rate and We-ko-pa Cholla at $35!!  Yup, its’ damned hot alright – but you have the whole course to yourself (except for Troon North which I am starting to think is always busy, but its’ really, really good!
Besides trying not to hit fairway homes (only 1 this time, although my score was not reflective of my great home avoidance skills) – we tried out a few new things….
I recommend!!
Blue Martini - a ‘cougar’ hangout to be sure, but still – if you are into people watching and excellent live music this is the place to go on a Friday or Saturday night.  The drinks are $12.50 for Martinis’ to $14.50 – and if you aren’t in before 10pm you pay a $10 cover.  But still, its’ the hot spot in Arizona to watch beautiful people dance the night away, and watch really talented musicians play live music.  We saw a band called Ashley Red there – the guy has an amazing voice, kinda along the lines of Maroon 5.  The talent level here is unreal, and worth exploring!
Desert Wolf Tours -  You get to drive! Very cool ‘TomCars’ – a four passenger dune buggy.  We took the 3.5 hour tour.  These little dune buggies don’t go very fast, but they go over terrain like you are riding in a Cadillac!  You can totally tell they were meant for military use, very rugged – easy to repair if needed (but we didn’t) and even the most treacherous terrain leaves you feeling confident!  The guide took us on the Old Wagon Trail road where the original ‘Phoenix’ highway to California used to go through, we went to a Turqoise mine and I had no clue what I was looking for – to me everything looked like everyday rocks.  Then we went across a river and saw some wildlife in the form of drunk tourists.  After that little venture, we went up to some ruins – an old indian highpoint – I guess there are hundreds of these located throughout the desert – the place where you could get up in the morning and send out a smoke signal all the way to Phoenix so you could have your pizza delivered by supper time.  After that, we checked out a ‘ghost town’ which is basically one little pile of rubble by the river – but a place where a lot of history and mavem took place.  From there, we just cruised on back to town and I had a passionate talk with our tour guide about American politics and the future of his country.  We both figured its maybe not such a bad idea having guns after all….oh ya – and if we really wanted for an extra $100 or so we could have brought some machine guns and assorted armament into the desert with us to shoot things with too.  The tour cost us $145, and it gets rave reviews – something I am glad we did for sure!

Scottsdale Gun Club -  5 minutes from my house is a place where they sell machine guns, hand guns and have a very sophisticated indoor range.  Even if you don’t fire the weaponry, its’ a pretty interesting place to wander through.  Strange in fact when you are from Canada!  Anyways – I rented a 9mm gun of some type and got a gun, ammo and ear protection after watching an 8 minute video and agreeing not to point the gun at anything I wasn’t ready to destroy.  No other instruction.  I was pretty nervous until I finally figured out which direction the bullets actually get chambered and finally fired the gun and actually hit my target!  About a $50 venture after all was said and done, but this is something I will probably try every time I come down – there are a lot of very cool weapons to try out here!
The Musical Instrument Museum -  WOW! That’s all I can say. for $15 you should be ready to tour a multi million dollar facility with instruments from around the world.  The self guided tour includes instruments from every country in the universe along with demonstrations you watch with a really cool headset they provide to you.  We took over 2 1/2 hours and my wife got bored so she had to drag me out just when I was hitting the rooms where you can try the instruments our for yourself! After banging a couple of drums and strumming a few guitars and a xylophone, I finally banged the gong and we took off.  Very much worth the $15 and actually worth a second visit down the road….I only just scratched the surface here!

Great other things to do….

We tried eating at “North” in Kierland – WOW! Great food, but a little pricey. Lunch for 2 was a margherita pizza and an Italian Sandwich (plus a couple of cocktails) for $36, but really really good.  Then of course we had to walk it off and toured around the shopping mall for a little while under the misters…
Scottsdale Quarter has a few new stores – and of course my favourite hangout, the Apple store!  The iPic theatre is probably a hangout for tonight.

Make a profit on your supply ordering!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:06 pm

If you wouldn’t write it and sign it – don’t say it.

The supplies you order make you money.

Are they working hard enough for you?

The supplies you order should not be any more than 8% of your gross production.  That should allow you room to use top quality products.  But if you are really taking advantage of your supplies – your supply costs should be around 6% of your production or better.  It really is relative!  Efficient products allow you to finish your procedures quicker, turn over your operatories faster, and basically make more money.

How much thought to you put into that?  I have put a lot of thought into this!  27 years of helping offices that keep getting independent reviews as some of the highest grossing, highest netting practices in my area – some of them highest among North American practices (according to some of my customers – not verified independantly)

Are you too cheap to see the value of great dental products?

You get what you pay for.  Then again, in dental sometimes you don’t. I have seen products that are way over rated for the value they provide.  Complicated procedures, anything that adds time is costing you money.  Sometimes a product that seems inexpensive adds inefficiencies that take money out of your pocket!!
Does your ordering person (maybe yourself) evaluate the TIMEfactor for the most significant products in your practice?  If you did, then you would be using bulk fill for posteriors, self etch bonding, disposable syringe tips, cassette systems, and your hygiene department would never sharpen another scaler.

Great dental products don’t even have to be more expensive than what you are using – all you need in order to find the great products is a great team member…..

Who really is the expert on the materials you use, and where you buy them from?

Dental Reps work their asses off to impress you.  They are there from the day you graduate school and likely still plugging away when you are ready to buy a practice, set up and look for employees.
The good ones are not there to line their own pockets, they are there to form a relationship with you.  Develop a solid relationship by providing services well beyond supply ordering.

As a matter of fact, if that’s all your rep is good at – you really should consider firing them.  Sure they might be a nice guy – but if they aren’t paying for those expensive supplies you order by showing you how to be more profitable – then you really aren’t getting your moneys worth.

If you want comedy and a good joke, or some donuts – you would be better off to pay for this on the side. Or maybe you are even lucky enough to work with an expert shopper (Dental rep) who consults your practice AND even knows a thing or two about keeping you smiling!!

Buying clubs

They are good for comparing how much money you would be SAVING if you were using them.  But how good are they at understanding what YOU really need?  How well do they know your practice, the staff you work with and the challenges you face every day?

How could you possibly consult a business on tens of thousands (maybe even hundreds of thousands) of dollars of product without KNOWING the practice?

Ususally people end up going here because of BAD dental reps.  Reps who only bring pricing to the table because they really don’t know anything better.  They don’t understand how to run a business, how to add value to the service they provide and that any day of the week they could beat a buying club or mail order magazine.

My challenge to you….

Find out who the top dental sales guy is for your area.  If they don’t turn your crank – shop around a bit.  But give it a chance.

Any rep worth their salt will impress the heck out of you with not only product knowledge, but also an understanding of your business and what tools might help your business succeed.

Now for myself – one of my friends and I are going for lunch….this blog was written while waiting for a great Dentist who is just at the beginning of a lucrative career full of opportunity (told you I’d write about you Dr.  E!)

Smile!

Dear government, I have some simple budget advice.

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:54 pm

Are we too busy mopping the floor to turn off the faucet?

Don’t borrow more money
Don’t ask for more credit
Have a plan
Stay home
Invest in yourself
Fix up your current assets
Cut back on luxuries
Work more, spend less
Don’t worry about what your neighbor has and you don’t
Everyone in the home must contribute whatever they can
Put in more than you take out
Don’t expect charity. Help yourself get healthy, then help others
Live within your means
Never get complacent
Work hard

Is it really so complicated?

DDS/DMD…..barber, gunfighter…..

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:29 pm
When you live on a round planet, there’s no choosing sides.

Wayne Dyer

Good old Doc Holliday - Dentist by day, gunfighter by night.

Doc Holliday, DDS

Living back in the days of the old west meant you had to make ends meet by practicing a trade, and when times were tough you might have to do a little extra, like maybe provide some law services….shoot some bad guys, you know – make a couple of bucks on the side…

At some points of history, Dentists were also the local barber (or maybe it was really the other way around).  I can’t imagine going in to have my haircut and teeth cleaned at the same time.  Scissors in one hand, scaler in the other…..hmmmm…..Although living with cats I do tend to get a lot of hair in my mouth, so it might feel only natural….
In some countries, you might even find a dentist practicing out on the street!
Hey – you gotta do what you gotta do to make a living!!

In todays’ tough economy – what are you doing to make ends meet?  How do you keep a staff fully employed, paid fairly and still put profit in your pocket? Are there opportunities lying within your practice to add services, or to promote better the services you already provide?

How often can you get your ‘customers’ to walk into your store?  Those who understand the value of providing a great perio program including a high level of education for the patient will rarely suffer in the tough times.  The customers who are educated and understand the product they are buying are always willing to spend a little more, and to go out of their way to get the service they value.

‘Customers’ at most hygiene oriented practices every 6 months get the benefit of excellent oral health – but are also able to understand the benefits of a beautiful cosmetic smile!  Think about this as a business owner.  Your customers are dedicated to maintaining the product you sell, come and seek your advice twice a year and WANT to hear what else you can do….

And yet, so many don’t take the opportunity to promote what they have to sell….
It shouldn’t sound so icky.

Do patients really need to have straight teeth and a whiter smile?  Is the staining and darkened teeth natural?  Can they function wtihout having that implant?

Some of dentistry is a need. Some of dentistry is a want.  Some of the most profitable parts of any business are finding a way to turn a want into a need, and we all go for that.  All it takes is some good marketing, and I don’t believe there is anything wrong or un professional about that.

Those dentists that are proud of the work they do, and proud of how well their patients feel by the treatments they have given them have no issues approaching the patient with a suggestion on how to make the smile better.

Are you doing this? Are you using every ‘marketing’ tool available to you such as…
-Tooth caries detection such as the Air Techniques Spectra? ($5000ish)
-How about Digital Xray (real no brainer!) and Intra oral Cameras – another no brainer with many years of proven returns.  Its’ not an expense silly, its’ called an investment!!

-Panoramic Xrays (do you remember all the diagnostics of using a panoramic xray and not just a full mouth series?) Another great investment – one of the smarter investments in any practice.

-Are you still sending money out the door when you could be providing those services in house?  Mouth guards, bleaching trays or how about Night Guards? Have you checked out Enterra for making high quality appliances in your own office – add a couple grand a month to your bottom line!

-Cad Cam, now that is a HUGE investment both in money and time.  But it is also one of the most amazing tools that can really turn around the overhead in an office.  It DOES take time to learn and it DOES take time to make the product look real good – but the money is there if you know how to use it.  I bet you are judging Cad Cam by the crap you have had to replace or fix in your own office….ever fixed any one elses (or your own) crap endo? Still perform endo? How about fillings? Do you still place them? Cad Cam is not much different – the materials are excellent and the possibility of creating an amazing product is in YOUR hands….its’ been proven in millions of restorations, and yet so many of you still call it crap because the guy across the street doesn’t know how to use it as well as you would…..

-Lasers? Another no brainer!  So much opportunity to provide your patients with a higher level of care that they want, and another way to generate income with a modern product.  Tons of uses, and a good everyday soft tissue laser starts at around $4000!!

If you are excited – just click through some of my blogs over the last few years.  There are literally hundreds of ideas I have given.  Everything I share is from decades of experience!!

God knows I don’t want to see you all having to pull out your trusty side arms and becoming weekend sheriffs to pay the bills when all you needed to do was invest a little more in your own practice!!
Smile!

The commenters who never read

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:54 pm

We are what we pretend to be…..so we must be careful what we pretend to be!!

I have noticed out of the several hundred comments I have had on my blog over the last couple of years – about 90% of them are spam.

These people come and post links to their own web sites, or on behalf of people they work for.  They are only trying to raise their own profile and really couldn’t give a shit about what I write!

It may seem that I am writing this because it bothers me.  Actually, it doesn’t.  I find that my own blog benefits indirectly from higher exposure (probably from searches that lead to some kind of crap I would never buy).  Its’ just too much work to edit – and it is not that big of a deal to me.

I just wanted to post this to see how many of these spam/bloggers end up posting a comment about how “informative” and “useful” this particular blog was for them.

They will tell me “It is really one of the fabulous post and I just like to say you,its very informative blog which I like a lot Thanks a lot for the nice information sharing with us.I really appreciate it.Keep posting continue.”

“Really informative” and “Amazing writing skills” -

You feel all proud at first. Then you realize that you have at least a dozen of these similar posts, and the person writing them doesn’t have a clue what you really just wrote.  Because I really doubt that a person from “Child Care services in India” find the information I write about Dental Composite is highly informative and valuable to their daily life….it isn’t that important to anyone but me in most cases!

So….just out of curiosity, I wonder how many will find this particular blog fascinating beyond reproach….

My new happy life – turning down a Million bucks can make you feel great!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:51 pm

Lack of loyalty is one of the major causes of failure in every walk of life…
Napoleon Hill

My new happy life

Having a true and loyal love in your life can be real inspiration.  It also changed my philosophy of life.

The last couple of days I spoke about my philosophy, and how I dug myself out of debt.

First by using credit as wisely as possible.

Second, by focusing on hobbies that were cheap, and even better benefitted my life.

Third, by refocusing. Working harder than ever before, and believing sincerely that this will work out.

And mostly by realizing how important loyal relationships were to my ultimate happiness.  I have turned down $1,000,000 to stay loyal to my friends that have been loyal to me.  They showed me they cared, and I give it back.  It has come back in my own life many times over…but that is another story…

Some of the other things that have helped…

-making a commitment to be the best I can at everything I do.  Constant improvement.

-continuing to educate, because learning more has always made life more interesting and is always beneficial

-learning that the most important things in life are the simple pleasures.  Nothing have ever bought has made me as happy as accomplishing a goal, of my heart racing when I am unsure, but then conquer something – or even the feeling of failure as a way of learning.  A necessary part of accomplishing – of trying something new, of taking smart risks.

More than anything, I learned that love is true happiness.  Loving and being loved.

I have also learned that relationships are what I value more than any amount or money you could ever give me.  Trust.  Friendship.

….and I learned that these true values can create a happy life.  Even more so – a loyal commitment to these values takes hard work.  Never straying too far from believing that it’s my effort towards these values that pays dividends.  That nobody owes me anything – that my benefit comes from giving more.

The more I give, the more I get.  The harder I work, the more I earn.  The more I give away, the more I get back.

Seems to work for me!

Thanks for taking the time to read my last few days rant.  It feels good to share a little of myself.  To hopefully connect with you, and to realize we are all human.  We have all had challenges, and sharing ways to face these challenges might help us all benefit.

Keep on smiling!

Digging out by building up…part 2

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:05 pm

Patience is the ability to count down before you blast off…

Yesterday I suggested some ways that helped me
get out of near bankruptcy.  Just to
understand how close I came –

December,
1995

I had my wages and bank account
garnisheed Christmas of 1995.  At the
worst possible moment – rent was due, I had just gone to court (October)
to  reduce my child support payments from
$1450 per month to $1000 – and I lost.  I
was only barely keeping my head above water at the time.  Struggling to pay rent, car, about $30,000 of
debts carried forward from my divorce and debts I had agreed to.

I seriously considered suicide
Christmas of 1995.  I couldn’t visit my
kids, had no money and didn’t understand why life was so crappy.  But I prayed, and I believed – as I do today
- that everything happens for a reason.
It was like watching a movie, but only I could control the outcome.  I didn’t want a sad ending.

January,
1996

I sold a bunch of stuff to a pawn
shop to pay my rent and bills.  I asked
work for an advance on pay (the garnisheed pay had covered my overdue child
support).  They wouldn’t and really
couldn’t do it since child support was due on any payments – they had a legal
obligation to pay that debt first.

A few days into January, my car broke
down. Transmission problems.  Major bill.

My Cavalier station wagon (ugh) had
about 350,000 I’m – and it was showing!
In my business, most reps are I dependent – pay their own expenses.  One mistake many of us learn is that we need
to stick aside a lot of money for vehicle maintenance.  My average vehicle bill is north of $1000 per
month besides gas (and also a bill the court didn’t believe when trying to
reduce my child support)!

Anyways
- no vehicle = no work.

When you are desperate, you get
desperate thoughts.  Many of you think
you would just go ask your family for money.
I have never, ever wanted to do that.
I don’t know what my mom ingrained in my head when raising me – but this
was just NOT and option.  As some of you
know, I was independent before I ever graduated from high school.  Paid my own way since I was 17. I’m proud of
that, and I don’t want anything from my mom and Dad.

….but I honestly couldn’t see any
other way.  I couldn’t borrow from work,
i didn’t have any friends – and didn’t believe in that.  My credit was bad and maxed out.

I phoned mom.  I cried.

My mom lent me $1500 which paid the
repair bill and shortly after I got enough of a payday to make it work.

The
beginning of happy – February to September 1996

They say
that you need to hit rock bottom before recovery.  The last month was my rock bottom.  And maybe everything does happen for a reason.

I worked my
ass off to move product. To make things happen.

I read my
inspirational, educational books.  I read
Og Mandino greatest salesman in the world…

I was
inspired. And I vowed to never, ever be in this situation again.

I had
several record months – and not only paid off a lot of debt, I was able to get
a new car.  Sales doubled, and I was already a leader in the industry. I was inspired – and I am to this day by the fear of ever being this damned broke again!

I met
Andree, the greatest gift in my life ever.
And even more inspiration to get my shit together.

October, 1996

As I dug my
way out of debt, I also wanted desperately to own a home again.  I sincerely believe real estate is a great
way to get yourself into a better financial position.  There was no way I would ever have enough
anytime soon to buy a house.

I asked my
employer for more money (I was getting screwed for years, but that is another
story).

When the
owner told me they couldn’t afford to pay me more – I searched for
alternatives.  I met Carman Adair, owner
of an up and coming Dental supply house called Arcona Dental.

He offered
me a job at almost twice the pay (which was actually industry standard) AND
offered me a low interest loan which not only paid off ALL my debt but gave me
enough for a down payment on a new home!

My new life
continues tomorrow….

Smile!
